Every year, I gather current clients, past clients, friends, and family together for a handful of the best running races in the area.

Team Kristin, 2017 Alameda 5k

Besides being a great way to challenge ourselves, it's also super fun to get our community together and support each other.

I know a lot of you must be thinking: who, me?! I've never done a 5k before! How long is 5k anyway?! (it's 3.1 miles) I definitely don't think I can run the whole thing.

No prob. Most of my clients had never done a 5k before they signed themselves up. Many of them walked their first one or did a combo of walking/jogging - and they weren't the last ones to finish the race. Far from it!

The other benefit? As soon as you sign up, you'll feel an instant kick of motivation to get moving over the coming weeks.

If you're not sure where to start, a great resource is Couch to 5k, a free app that'll run you through a day-by-day training plan. It only requires 20-30 minutes, three times a week.

So whether you run 'em, walk 'em, run/walk 'em...my challenge to you is to sign up, bring your S.O., kids, dogs, and whatever friends you can convince. LET'S DO THIS!

Sunday April 26: Alameda Hospital Foundation 5k

Where: Bay Farm Island Ferry Terminal, Alameda, CA (GOOGLE MAP)

When: 9 am on Sunday April 26, 2020

Course: out-and-back on a flat bike path

Sunday September 13: Alameda Running Festival 5k

Where: USS Hornet, Alameda, CA (GOOGLE MAP)

Course: loop on flat roads

Thursday November 26: 3rd Annual FREE Team Kristin Turkey Trot 5k

Where: Corner of Westline and Shoreline Drive, Alameda, CA (GOOGLE MAP)

When: 8:30 am on Thanksgiving morning

Course: out-and-back on a flat bike path

Saturday December 12: Rodeo Beach 8k Trail Run

Note that this is classified as an ultramarathon even though there are multiple events. We'll be running the 8k (5 miles)

Where: Rodeo Beach, Marin Headlands (GOOGLE MAP)

Course: hilly loop on trails
